Fees & FAQs

Answers to a few of the questions people ask first.

If your question is not here, please reach out. It is often easier to speak directly than to try to guess.

Payment and insurance

Current payment and insurance details, including any use of insurance, superbills for out-of-network reimbursement, and session fees, should be confirmed directly with the practice.

You are welcome to call 310-301-2737 or email askdrcher@gmail.com with any questions about fees or insurance.

What is the first session like?
The first session is spacious. We talk about what is bringing you in, relevant history, and what you would like to be different. It is also a chance to notice how it feels to sit and work together, and to shape a plan for what comes next.
How often do people meet?
Weekly, 45 to 50 minute sessions are the most common rhythm. Some clients meet more or less often at different points in the work. We decide together based on what would be most useful.
How is my privacy protected?
Sessions and records are held with the confidentiality expected of a licensed psychologist under California law. Limits to confidentiality, such as concerns about serious harm or legal reporting obligations, are reviewed at the first session and remain the exception rather than the rule. This website does not claim any specific technical security standard.
Am I eligible for telehealth?
Yes, if you are physically located in California at the time of the appointment. Telehealth sessions are held over a secure video platform, and we take time to set the space up in a way that supports the work.
Individual therapy or couples therapy?
Individual therapy focuses on you as one person, including the patterns you carry into relationships. Couples therapy holds the relationship itself as the client. We can talk about which frame fits, or how to combine them thoughtfully.
Are sessions available in Spanish?
Yes. Sessions are available in English and Spanish. Please let me know your preference when reaching out.
What is the cancellation policy?
A cancellation window is in place; specifics are confirmed at the first appointment. Please reach out as early as possible when scheduling needs shift.
What are the fees, and do you take insurance?
Current payment and insurance details, including any use of insurance, superbills for out-of-network reimbursement, and session fees, should be confirmed directly with the practice.
Is this the right place for a mental health emergency?
No. This practice is not an emergency service and does not offer 24-hour care. If you are in crisis or worried about your safety or someone else's, call or text 988, call 911, or go to your nearest emergency room.
